Obama Vs. Hitler

I’ve been hearing plenty of Obama = Hitler talk lately, so I thought maybe it was time to see if his policies matched those of the former German leader in any way. If this is a mis-characterization it would be horribly unfair, so I’ll do my best not to make any stretches of the truth. In the past, the right has been equated with Hitler as well, so we’ll see how that characterization holds up too. I started out trying to be completely objective, but it was no fun. I tried to be hard on both sides when they deserved it but my own beliefs may have gotten in the way at times. Decide for yourself how close RantNation is to your own reality, I think you’ll find it an eye opener in any case. For my comparison I’ve decided to use the 25 points of the Nazi party, also known as the Nazi Manifesto. For the record, Nazism in English means National Socialism.

Here are the 25 points of the Nazi party, with my own explanations. I’ve included links when appropriate. The first ten points list the Nationalist aspects of the party and the rest deal with its Socialist ideals, therefore the list tends to come from the Right in the beginning, and then makes a Left turn, starting with Point 11. These are applicable to the current ideas of Left and Right as they are generally understood in the United States today.

The 25 Points of Hitler’s Nazi Party

1. We demand the union of all Germans in a Great Germany on the basis of the principle of self-determination of all peoples.
Self-determination is usually a capitalist tenet, therefore one of the Right, but I find a union based on self-determination to be a strange set of bedfellows.

2. We demand that the German people have rights equal to those of other nations; and that the Peace Treaties of Versailles and St. Germain shall be abrogated.
I would parallel this point to the one of the Right that wishes to sever ties with the U.N., decries the possibility of a Trans American Union, etc.

3. We demand land and territory (colonies) for the maintenance of our people and the settlement of our surplus population.
We have bases all over the world, but all have withstood Administrations from both sides. A tie.

4. Only those who are our fellow countrymen can become citizens. Only those who have German blood, regardless of creed, can be our countrymen. Hence no Jew can be a countryman.
It sounds like our immigration battle taken to a racist extreme. Chalk this one up to the Right too, but in most cases minus the racism. The Constitution allows for Laws of Naturalization, by the way.

5. Those who are not citizens must live in Germany as foreigners and must be subject to the law of aliens.
More immigration stuff, and another one for the Right. I’d be curious to read the law of aliens.

6. The right to choose the government and determine the laws of the State shall belong only to citizens. We therefore demand that no public office, of whatever nature, whether in the central government, the province, or the municipality, shall be held by anyone who is not a citizen.
We wage war against the corrupt parliamentary administration whereby men are appointed to posts by favor of the party without regard to character and fitness.
This one’s in our Constitution too at least as far as the President goes, so it can’t really be attributed to a particular party, although I think the Right follows this one more closely than the Left.

7. We demand that the State shall above all undertake to ensure that every citizen shall have the possibility of living decently and earning a livelihood. If it should not be possible to feed the whole population, then aliens (non-citizens) must be expelled from the Reich.
The first half sounds like it comes from the Left (welfare) and the second half from the Right.(immigration laws)

8. Any further immigration of non-Germans must be prevented. We demand that all non-Germans who have entered Germany since August 2, 1914, shall be compelled to leave the Reich immediately.
Many hard-right Americans believe this very thing.

9. All citizens must possess equal rights and duties.
Both sides claim to follow this one, but you don’t hear many from the Right pushing for Affirmative Action, A.K.A. Affirmative Discrimination, which does not encourage equality. The Right gets credit for this one, as some firefighters who recently won a Supreme Court case can attest. I’m sure the Left will disagree, but the person with the highest test scores should get the job or the college scholarship if you truly want to be fair. Period.

10. The first duty of every citizen must be to work mentally or physically. No individual shall do any work that offends against the interest of the community to the benefit of all.
I would say that the Right gets credit for this one, because they don’t like paying people not to work. And, the Right likes to run businesses out of town that they disagree with morally. The Left likes to run businesses out of town that they disagree with politically.

Therefore, we demand:

11. That all unearned income, and all income that does not arise from work, be abolished.
The Left gets this one for their love of inheritance and capital gains taxes.

12. Since every war imposes on the people fearful sacrifices in blood and treasure, all personal profit arising from the war must be regarded as treason to the people. We therefore demand the total confiscation of all war profits.
Just because the Left hasn’t made it law doesn’t mean they wouldn’t if given the chance.

13. We demand the nationalization of all trusts.
I would give sole credit to the Left with their numerous “bailouts”, but Bush started it…

14. We demand profit-sharing in large industries.
Obama does love to “Spread the wealth around.” Hardly a belief of the Right. I could mention GM but since the Feds have taken over there’s no profit to be shared.

15. We demand a generous increase in old-age pensions.
Obama made sure that we get to pay for the pensions of UAW members. More are probably in store.

16. We demand the creation and maintenance of a sound middle-class, the immediate communalization of large stores which will be rented cheaply to small trades people, and the strongest consideration must be given to ensure that small traders shall deliver the supplies needed by the State, the provinces and municipalities.
I don’t know of either side doing this. Yet. Enlighten me, maybe I’m reading it wrong.

17. We demand an agrarian reform in accordance with our national requirements, and the enactment of a law to expropriate the owners without compensation of any land needed for the common purpose. The abolition of ground rents, and the prohibition of all speculation in land.
Eminent Domain. Constitutionally mandated, but taken WAY out of context. Everybody’s guilty. The Right seems to have no problem with rent and land speculation, so this one goes to the Left, because they’ve done more to restrict land ownership through property taxes, zoning laws, and covenants than the Right.

18. We demand that ruthless war be waged against those who work to the injury of the common welfare. Traitors, usurers, profiteers, etc., are to be punished with death, regardless of creed or race.
Neither side wants to claim this one or their respective politicians would all have to execute themselves.

19. We demand that Roman law, which serves a materialist ordering of the world, be replaced by German common law.
Kinda like the Left substituting our Constitutional law with International law. Credit to the Left.

20. In order to make it possible for every capable and industrious German to obtain higher education, and thus the opportunity to reach into positions of leadership, the State must assume the responsibility of organizing thoroughly the entire cultural system of the people. The curricula of all educational establishments shall be adapted to practical life. The conception of the State Idea (science of citizenship) must be taught in the schools from the very beginning. We demand that specially talented children of poor parents, whatever their station or occupation, be educated at the expense of the State.
Definitely the Left.

21. The State has the duty to help raise the standard of national health by providing maternity welfare centers, by prohibiting juvenile labor, by increasing physical fitness through the introduction of compulsory games and gymnastics, and by the greatest possible encouragement of associations concerned with the physical education of the young.
The Left is the easy choice, but we can’t forget the Right’s drug war.

22. We demand the abolition of the regular army and the creation of a national (folk) army.
Sounds just like Obama’s Civilian National Security Force.

23. We demand that there be a legal campaign against those who propagate deliberate political lies and disseminate them through the press. In order to make possible the creation of a German press, we demand:
(a) All editors and their assistants on newspapers published in the German language shall be German citizens.
(b) Non-German newspapers shall only be published with the express permission of the State. They must not be published in the German language.
(c) All financial interests in or in any way affecting German newspapers shall be forbidden to non-Germans by law, and we demand that the punishment for transgressing this law be the immediate suppression of the newspaper and the expulsion of the non-Germans from the Reich.
Newspapers transgressing against the common welfare shall be suppressed. We demand legal action against those tendencies in art and literature that have a disruptive influence upon the life of our folk, and that any organizations that offend against the foregoing demands shall be dissolved.
Both sides may blame the other for using these tactics, but I don’t recall the White House ever publicly asking for snitches on the opposition. Until now. Credit to the Left.

24. We demand freedom for all religious faiths in the state, insofar as they do not endanger its existence or offend the moral and ethical sense of the Germanic race.
The party as such represents the point of view of a positive Christianity without binding itself to any one particular confession. It fights against the Jewish materialist spirit within and without, and is convinced that a lasting recovery of our folk can only come about from within on the principle:
COMMON GOOD BEFORE INDIVIDUAL GOOD
Religion as long as it doesn’t offend anybody? Left, Left, Left.
Common good before individual good? Left. Taxing the rich ring a bell? Spread the wealth around?

25. In order to carry out this program we demand: the creation of a strong central authority in the State, the unconditional authority by the political central parliament of the whole State and all its organizations.
The formation of professional committees and of committees representing the several estates of the realm, to ensure that the laws promulgated by the central authority shall be carried out by the federal states.
The leaders of the party undertake to promote the execution of the foregoing points at all costs, if necessary at the sacrifice of their own lives.
Two Words: Big Government. One Word: Obama
One difference being that today, politicians will sacrifice your life instead of their own.

Here’s where any objectivity I might have had ends:
In summary, it’s pretty clear that both sides are guilty of following their respective sides of Nazism. However, Nationalism is a well-established part of our country’s history. To be proud of our country and its heritage has historically been a very American thing to be. Socialism has recently come into vogue, by quietly creeping into American society around the time of the creation of Social Security, and since. It has no Constitutional mandate, but has reared its ugly head because it feels good, and is as secure as any cage can be. The bottom line is that the Left, and especially President Obama, have introduced foreign, socialist ideals into the mainstream in direct contradiction to our founding principles of self-reliance and determination, to the peril of us all. That being said, I would be willing to dump my Nationalist principles, save the stuff explicitly spelled out in the Constitution, if the Left would dump all their socialism. If they would, we wouldn’t have the immigration problem we have today because the leeches would return to their respective countries when the free money and services ran out, or they wouldn’t show up in the first place. Since that’s never going to happen I guess I’ll keep wrapping myself in my “Don’t Tread on Me” flag. So be it.
